Terms of use

These terms apply to Cairn, a desktop app for macOS made by Oreb Studio. By installing or using Cairn, you accept them. How Cairn handles your data is set out in the privacy policy.

A private beta

Cairn is in private beta: it is available by invitation, it is still being built, and it may change, break, or lose features along the way. Oreb Studio may end the beta, or your access to it, at any time. There is no charge for Cairn during the beta.

Your licence

Oreb Studio gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Cairn on your own Macs during the beta. You may not sell, share or redistribute Cairn, or copy, modify or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms.

Your data

What you put in Cairn remains yours. It is stored on your Mac, not by Oreb Studio. Cairn keeps local backups, but you are responsible for your own copies of anything that matters to you, especially during the beta.

Services you connect

Cairn works with services you choose to connect, such as Google Calendar, Gmail, Asana and GitHub, and with Claude, from Anthropic, through the Claude Code app and your own Anthropic account. Your use of each is governed by that provider's own terms. Any cost of using Claude, or any of these services, is billed to you by the provider, not by Oreb Studio.

The assistant's work

Briefs, meeting preparation, reviews and answers are written by an AI model. They can be incomplete or wrong. Check what matters before you rely on it or act on it. Changes the assistant proposes to your work wait for your approval in the Inbox; you decide what is accepted.

Acceptable use

Use Cairn lawfully, and only with data and accounts you are entitled to use. Do not use it to break the terms of the services it connects to.

No warranty

Cairn is a beta and is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty, express or implied, including of fitness for a particular purpose or of uninterrupted, error-free operation, to the extent permitted by law.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Oreb Studio is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or opportunity, arising from your use of Cairn or your inability to use it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, and nothing in them affects the rights you have as a consumer under the law that applies to you.

Changes

These terms may change as Cairn does. When they do, this page is updated and its effective date changes with it. Continuing to use Cairn after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably falls within the jurisdiction of the French courts, subject to any mandatory rules that give you, as a consumer, the right to bring proceedings where you live.
